Obituary of Lorraine Mary Gable

Lorraine M. Gable of Cambridge passed away on February 7th, 2015 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East at the age of 89. Lorraine Mary Welle was born in Avon MN May 3rd 1925. She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy, parents Mary and Wilhem, 12 half-brothers and sisters, sisters Eleanora, Melinda and Hilda, brothers Al, Bill and Wilbert. Survived by children Tom (Debbie), Marie and Dan (Theresa). Grandchildren Jenny (Jarred), Andy (Sara), Adam (Megan), Jared and Mike (Emily). Great-grandchildren Rainey, Gilbert, Asher, Marcella, Axzel and Klifton. Lorraine transferred from St. Cloud to Cambridge for temporary duty as telephone operator just after World War II, not realizing Cambridge was where she would make her permanent home. The love of her life LeRoy Gable was a second-generation dairy farmer just north of town. They married in 1949, and were only separated after 45 years by LeRoy’s death in 1994. Between being a hardworking farm wife, quilt maker, 4-H leader, member of the Monday Morning Gals homemaker group, and above all a grand champion angel food cake maker, Lorraine never slowed down. Lorraine especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family also wants to acknowledge the dedication of the staff at GracePointe East nursing home.
