Obituary of Arlene Louise Reese
Near the close of the day on March 1, 2015, Arlene Louise Reese was at peace and surrounded by family and friends when our Heavenly Father called her home at the age of 90 years and 5 months.
She was born October 2, 1924 to Alfred and Esther Richert. She attended school in Elgin and St. Charles, Ill. On April 2, 1939, she was confirmed at the St. John’s Lutheran Evangelical Church. After her graduation she was employed in a factory making parts for airplanes.
At a young age Arlene developed a severe heart issue and spent 4 years recuperating in her aunt’s nursing home. Those heart issues stayed with her for her entire life. She remained strong in her faith, her love of God, and her family.
On May 5, 1945 she married Ray Reese and they were blessed with 67 yrs. of marriage. Their first home was in Barrington and later moved to Woodstock, Ill. In 1955, they and their 4 children moved to North Branch, MN. this is where their home remained. The family soon joined the Spring Lake Lutheran Church. Arlene was a loyal member up until her death. She was one of the oldest remaining members.
Flowers and gardening filled her days, as well as canning and freezing. Her beautiful flower beds were enjoyed by many. This was helpful during her years of leadership for the Spring Lakers 4-H Club.
While her health kept her inside more, she enjoyed a new hobby knitting sweaters, scarfs, mittens, and the popular Christmas sock. She was a perfectionist at both knitting and crocheting. As time went on, her health made her give up the knitting machine. Later, she learned how to use a computer. She enjoyed games and keeping in touch with family & friends thru email.
Arlene’s family meant the world to her. She will be deeply missed and loved by her children Judy (Bill) Feela, Joyce (Duane) Rust, Ronald (Karen) Reese, Karen (Pete) Rask; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews; sister Jan Christy; brothers William Richert & Gordon Richert, and special friend Earlane Johnson. Arlene is preceded in death by her husband Raymond; parents Alfred & Esther; sister Geraldine, brothers Armond & Dennis; nieces & nephews.
Let us continue to celebrate and love the life of Arlene!
