Obituary of Lorraine L. Daudt

Lorraine L. Daudt age 94 of Zimmerman, passed away peacefully at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River on April 29, 2015. She was born October 12, 1920 in Stanford Township, MN to Edward and Caroline (Lieder) Westphal. Lorraine grew up in the Crown area and attended country school. She went on to marry Frank Daudt. They raised their five children and also owned and operated Frank and Ray’s Store along with Ray & Tressie Whittlef. They owned it for many years together. During that time Lorraine drove school bus for St. Francis, made hundreds of quilts, gardened, raised chickens, made horseradish and hand-picked many fields of corn after they had been machine picked. She was very active member of Zion’s Ladies Aide, quilting. She loved to fish for Sunfish with her cane pole and never threw a fish back. Almost every Sunday she fried the best chicken, baked bread and apple pie from her apple trees for the family’s Sunday dinner. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank and son Darold, great granddaughter Caitlin Daudt, brothers Forrest Westphal and Ronald Westphal, sister Ruth Herburg. Lorraine is survived by her sons Terry (Lori), Harlan (Kathleen) and Loren (Wendy); daughter Darlene (Don) Jorgenson, daughter-in-law Louise Daudt, as well as 16 Grandchildren, 33 Great-Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren. Also survived by brother Mahlon Westphal; sisters Adeline Vassuer and Elaine (Bill) Reynolds, sister-in-law Florence Shabecka.
