Obituary of John V. Dodd

John Vernon Dodd, age 78, lived at 265 Woodlake Road, Eldorado, IL. He passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 of cardiac problems at the home of his son in Cambridge, MN. He was born on March 5, 1937 in Eldorado IL to John and Verbal (Mace) Dodd. John attended Eldorado High School. He was very intelligent and loved to talk about politics, physics, philosophy and many other subjects. He was an avid reader and had a wide range of interests. He did not have a college education, but through his own determination advanced in his career to Vice President of Information Systems at Patterson Dental. He would often say that the move to Minnesota was one of the best decisions they ever made. After he retired, they moved back to Eldorado, IL to reconnect with old friends. He enjoyed his dog, Bridget, who gave him much comfort when his wife, Linda, passed away. He never had a cross word to say about anyone. He always tried to see the best in people. John you will be missed by all. John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda W Dodd and his daughter, Paula Stolp. He is survived by his brother, Gary (Cassie) Dodd; his sister, Vickie (Eric) Dodd; his children Nancy Dodd, James (Barbara) Dodd, John (Bonnie) Wayman-Dodd and his son in law, Bob (Melanie) Stolp; his grandchildren, Tara Lee, Lindsey (Marcus) Doolittle, Brian (Britney) Lilly, Kaitlyn Wayman-Dodd, Nathan Wayman-Dodd, Alexandra (Jordan) Anderson, Samantha Dodd, Mackenzie Dodd, Wendy Stolp, Joseph Stolp and Briana Lee; his great grandchildren, Alainah Hartman, Jacob Lee, Brent Lee, Sunny Lilly, Soren Lilly, Sierra Lilly, Saylor Lilly, Laci Doolittle and his great great grandson, Hunter Whaley; his nephews, Jeff White, Dylan White and Michael Hackett; his brother in laws, John (Karen) White and Wardie (Shelly) White; numerous cousins, relatives and friends; and last, but not least, his second best friend in the whole world, his little dog Bridget Bardot.
