Obituary of Michael T. Ranger

Michael Thomas Ranger, 70, of Aitkin passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015 at The VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was born on December 2, 1944 in Hennepin County, Minnesota to Thomas and Laverne (McGrath) Ranger. Michael grew up in Fridley and attended school there. After graduating from high school he went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he lived for a time in St. Francis. In 1995 he moved to Aitkin and has lived there since. While in Aitkin, Michael was active in volunteering in several areas, including the Kinship Program where he met several good friends. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He crafted wooden toys for several children over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by daughter Jane and husband Stan Kaufmann, two grandchildren Aaron and Corey Kaufmann all of Milaca, sister Carrie Ahrens of Minneapolis, step brother Barry (Bonnie) Arendts of Dalbo, step sister Toni (Jeff) Carlson of Orono, nieces Jessie Miller of Minneapolis and Jennifer Alden of Frederic, WI, as well as other relatives and friends.
