Obituary of Ila L. Becker

Ila L. Becker, age 90, of Cambridge, Minnesota, passed away on August 9, 2015 at Prairie Senior Cottages, Isanti, Minnesota. Ila was born in Fraser Township, Fairmont, Minnesota to Julius and Doretta (Schwieger) Behrens on September 5, 1924. She was baptized, attended parochial school and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and School in Fraser Township where on March 21, 1943 she married Herbert E. Becker. Ila was an active member of St. John, Weber prior to moving to Illinois and became an active member again after moving back to Cambridge. After getting married, Herbert and Ila lived and farmed near South Branch, Minnesota where she was a homemaker and raised her family. The family then moved to a farm near Cambridge, Minnesota. After leaving the Cambridge farm the family moved to Springfield, Illinois. While in Springfield, she was a cook at a daycare and a Camp Cilca. After moving back to Minnesota, she worked at Cable’s Bakery which became Herman’s Bakery in Cambridge for over 30 years. Ila is survived by her children: Curtis (Mavis) Becker of Cambridge, Donna Meyer of Cambridge, Joel (April) Becker of Hawley, Minnesota, Denice Becker of Cambridge and Jean Becker of Braham; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren. Also survived her sister Velma Wilson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and brother Omar (Janet) Behrens of Fairmont, MN, sisters-in-law Bea Behrens, Lorena “Toots” Mau both of Truman, MN, Jane Becker of Edina. Ila was preceded in death by her husband Herbert, son-in-law Ronald Meyer, granddaughter Janet Becker, infant grandson Craig Meyer, brothers Elmer and Sylvan Behrens and sister Leona Peterson.
