Obituary of Robert William Carriere
Robert W. Carriere, 93, formerly of Foley and Cambridge, Minnesota, died September 6, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Community in Becker, Minnesota, surrounded by family with his wife at his side. He was born January 26, 1922, in Buhl, Minnesota, the son of Joseph and Emily Carriere. Robert graduated from Middle River High School in 1939 and enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II, and was commissioned into active duty shortly after graduation from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. He spent most of his service time in the Pacific, where he served honorably on the U.S.S. Heywood through the end of the war. Robert married Eva Anderson on June 15, 1947, in Middle River, Minnesota. One son and four daughters were born to them. After completion of his Master’s Degree from the University of North Dakota in 1955, Robert spent the remainder of his working years as the Foley High School Principal. Robert was an active member of the Maywood Covenant Church in Foley and spent years ushering at both Maywood and North Isanti Baptist Church in Cambridge. In addition to his faithful service to his church families, Robert was also an active volunteer in the community, teaching 55 Alive, served as an election judge, fulfilling duties as campground host at various state parks, and compassionately volunteering time to his community family at GracePointe Crossing (formerly known as River Hills).
