Obituary of Shannon S. Foote Sr.
Shannon S. Foote Sr. "Grandpa Shan", 79, of Stanchfield passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming surrounded by his family.
He was born November 20, 1935 in Cambridge, MN to Bennett and Irene (Torell) Foote Sr. Shannon grew up in the Cambridge area, attending the Moody School and graduating from Cambridge High School in 1953.
In 1956 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia Benson in Robbinsdale and they made their home in Coon Rapids for a short time. They would build their first home on East Rush Lake, and in 1966 Shannon would build their second home on West Rush Lake where he and Patty would raise their family, he was currently living there.
Shannon worked for many years as a brick layer and in concrete work. In the 1970's Shannon and his brother, Bud, started Foote Construction. They also, along with his dad, Bennett opened Alpine Sports Center near Braham. Shannon retired about 10 years ago.
Shannon enjoyed spending time sitting on the patio deck at their home with his faithful dog, Tina. Shannon loved his family deeply and loved spending time with them all. He especially had a soft spot for all of his grand-children. He was a member of the NRA, enjoyed reminiscing about the cars, boats and motorcycles he had collected. Shannon was famous for his jet boat rides on Rush Lake. Shannon had a wonderful wit and great sense of humor that will truly be missed by family and friends.
Shannon was preceded in death by an infant twin sister Sharon, his parents, brother Bennett “Bud”, and sister Beverly Barbo. He is survived by his wife Patricia, children Kristy (Alan) Doberstein of Stanchfield, Jodie (Mark) Olson of Stanchfield, Vickie (Dave) Erickson of
Dalbo, Shannon (Sarah) Foote Jr. of Stanchfield, Lisa (Matt) McCarron of Chisago City, ten grandchildren; Leah, Ryan, Jesse, Keegan, Lindsay, Kyle, Kaylee, Samuel, Sonny and Ava, six great grandchildren Tayler, Hayden, Logan, Taytum, Ryder and Hudsyn, sister Suzanne Anderson of Cambridge.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
