Obituary of George F. Nold

George F. Nold, 81, of Cambridge passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Cambridge Medical Center. He was born August 4, 1934 in Cambridge, MN to Harry and Christine (Watson) Nold. George grew up in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School. George was united in marriage to Marilyn Findell in 1960 and they raised their three children in Cambridge. He worked at the Cambridge State Hospital for nearly 30 years and retired from there. George had a passion for sports, and watching the Minnesota Timberwolves, Vikings, Twins and Gophers was a favorite pastime of his. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in various sporting events and also enjoyed coaching basketball for the CIBA association. He enjoyed traveling, coffee at the bakery, and going on car rides, which always included stopping somewhere for pie. More than anything, he was most content just being surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jim. George is survived by his wife of 55 years Marilyn, son Greg (Pam) Nold of Dalbo, daughter Susan Cartier of St. Paul, son Paul (Robin) Nold of Davenport, IA, special friend Pat Cartier, three grandchildren Jonathan Nold of Coon Rapids, Melissa Chick of Golden, CO, J.P. (Rachel) Cartier of Grand Forks, ND, step-grandchildren Christie Hammons and Chris Hammons of Tuscaloosa, AL, four great grandchildren Ty & Peyton Nold, Brooke Chick, and Carson Cartier, as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
