Betty Jean Neifert, 86, of Isanti passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Prairie Senior Cottages in Isanti. She was born March 10, 1929 at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis to Carl and Myrtle (Bell) Swanson. Betty was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in the Camden area of Minneapolis. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School. After high school she began working at Northwestern Bell. On September 17, 1949 she was united in marriage to Wesley Neifert at Salem Lutheran Church. They lived in the Camden neighborhood in Minneapolis and in the early 1960’s purchased a farm home near Isanti. They would later build a new home on the property. Betty and Wesley owned and operated the Weber Store from 1972-1983. Betty worked at the Arsenal for a short time and for several years at Peoples Bank. She was also the first woman school bus driver for the Cambridge-Isanti School District. After she quit working, Betty spent time caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cribbage, and bowling on women’s league. She especially loved spending time with her family and went on several trips with her family. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wesley, son Jeffrey, brother Robert Swanson, and sister Dorothy Hnath. She is survived by her children Laura and husband Kurt Larson of Isanti, Lynn and husband Ed Larson of Cambridge, Wayne and wife Tracy Neifert of Isanti, six grandchildren Erik and Adam Larson, Amy and Kala Daley, Chad and Jessie Neifert, two great grandchildren Mya Daley and Kalea Murray, special friend Tootsie, brother-in-law George Hnath of Brooklyn Park, as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank Prairie Senior Cottages for all the love and care they showed Betty while living there, and a special thank you to Brittney for being with Betty when she needed her most.
