Obituary of June A. Mitchell

June A. Mitchell, 94, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. She was born July 3, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN the oldest of four children to Edward and Veronica (Licht) Lilledahl. She graduated from McGrath High School in 1939. She went on to attend St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Duluth graduating in January 1945. In March 1945 she enlisted in the Army Nurses Corps and served in WWII. She was honorably discharged in September 1945. On June 8, 1945 she was united in marriage to Robert Mitchell. They lived a short time in South Dakota, before moving to Georgia as Robert enlisted in the Air Force. Following his discharge in 1950, they would move to St. Paul and resided there for 26 years. June worked as a nurse at various hospitals and nursing homes while also raising their ten children. Robert passed away in August 1976. June would soon move to Cambridge where she would work at Cambridge Regional Center, Cambridge Health Care Center and Grandview Christian Home. She also attended Cambridge Community College to earn her Associate Degree in Liberal Arts. June enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, making afghans, cooking and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, sons Robert Jr., William, James and Michael, grandchildren Tammy Jo Oberg, Joey Mitchell, great granddaughter Cadence Rawls, brothers John and Ralph Lilledahl, sister Bernice Krzyzanowski. June is survived by her children Mary Livingston of Palisade, MN, Thomas (Judy) Mitchell of Blaine, Charles Mitchell (Darla McCann) of Hinckley, Elizabeth (Steven) Wegwerth of Cambridge, John Mitchell (Judy Gaub) of Crosby, Joe (Darcie) Mitchell of Princeton, daughter-in-law Cindy Mitchell of Cottage Grove, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.
