Obituary of Elaine M. Wicklund-Olson
Elaine Marion Wicklund-Olson, 88 years old, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
She was born on February 19, 1928 in Springvale Township, Minnesota the fifth of eleven children to Eddie and Lilly (Erickson) Anderson. Elaine grew up in the Isanti County area, was confirmed at Karmel Covenant Church and attended the Dowling Country School. She worked at the Woolen Mills, knitting socks for the service members of WWII. She also worked at the Nugget Café in Cambridge.
On April 23, 1949 she was united in marriage to Clifford Wicklund at Karmel Covenant Church. They lived a time in Cambridge and Princeton before moving to Grantsburg, WI in 1963, where they farmed for 7 years. Upon returning to Cambridge, Elaine worked in the fabric department at the Leader Store, also owned Cut-N-Sew in Cambridge and sold sewing machines. Clifford passed away on October 1, 1988.
On November 10, 1990 Elaine married Reynold C. Olson at First Baptist Church in Cambridge and they made their home in Cambridge. She and Reynold enjoyed seasonal camping at Springvale Campground and in Florida.
Elaine made a faith commitment to Christ as a young girl at the Dalbo Tent Meetings. She was active at Karmel Covenant Church, Grace Baptist Church in Grantsburg, Stanchfield Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Cambridge, where she enjoyed helping in the nursery and teaching Sunday school. She taught herself to play the piano and accordion. She and her sister Harriet enjoyed playing together at family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Clifford and Reynold, grandson Nathan Liljeberg, brothers Darold, Dean, Glen, Kenneth, Franklin and Ronald Anderson, sister Harriet Tonn.
Elaine is survived by her children Donna (Tom) Konnad of Cambridge, Gini (Lowell) Anderson of Cambridge, Dennis (Sheila) Wicklund of Blaine, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brother Robert (Harriett) Anderson of Rockford, IL, sisters Phyllis Johnson of Milaca, Marvel (Allen) Regehr of Cambridge; sisters in law Lois Anderson, Bonnie Anderson and Suzie Anderson, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Elaine’s family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to her caregivers at GracePointe Crossing.
