Obituary of Leone A. Anderson

Leone A. Anderson (nee Swenson), age 82 of Rush Point, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Rosewood (formerly Haven House) on August 1, 2016. Leone was born February 28, 1934 at her grandparent’s farm to Gedeon & Lucille Swenson across the road from the South Isanti Baptist Church. She attended grade school at Pershing District 53, Isanti. She went on to graduate from Cambridge Sr. High School in 1952. Leone married her childhood sweetheart, James Anderson on March 8, 1952 during a massive snowstorm. In 1961 they purchased a farm near Rush Point. Leone worked at Midland Coop and Gambles hardware stores. She started at CADRE in 1976 and continued on to District 911 as a PARA and union steward until she retired in 1998. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, vacations and especially camping at the MN State Fair for several days every year. Leone also enjoyed her many friends, nights playing cards, country music festivals, shopping and fishing at Little Splithand Lake near Grand Rapids, MN. Leone raised three daughters; Corrine (Dennis) Meyer, Connie Anderson and Teresa (Kenneth “KC”) Gamble. Her children blessed her with nine grandchildren; Carrie (Brian) Moffet, Heather (Keith) Wright, Mathew (Alina) Meyer, Lucas (Adrienne) Meyer, Jennifer (Keith) Strehlo, Brian (Janelle) Hesse, Heidi (Mark) Hadac, Jacob (Elizabeth) Hesse and David (Angie) Gillette and in turn her grandchildren blessed her with 14 great grandchildren; William and Alayna Moffet, Calvin and Quinten Meyer, Joshua and Karl Strehlo, Caleb, Cameron, Jade and Shane Hesse, Alexandra and Kaylee Fitzgerald and Austin and Dalton Gillette. She is also survived by her aunt Avis (Roger) Oppegard; sisters-in-law Lorna (Loren) Christenson, Shirley (Larry) Rydeen and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband James and parents.
