Obituary of Delores C. Zellmer

Delores Corrinne (Hiatt) Zellmer, age 94 of North Branch, MN passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on August 18, 2016. Delores was born on March 27, 1922 in Lebanon, SD to Pearl and Charles Hiatt. She was the ninth child of thirteen. She went to school in Lebanon and then later at Fairmont School after moving to Lewisville with her family. At the age of 19 Delores married Edwin Zellmer in Truman, MN on April 30, 1941. They recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Delores worked at various jobs during her life time. She worked on the family farm by doing the cooking and baking, Neighbors helping Neighbors Clothing store in North Branch, cooked at North Branch Broaster for ten years and in 1967 started her final career at Control Data, where she retired from in 1987. After retiring, she volunteered at the Thrift Store in North Branch and the senior center serving hotdish and cake. Her hobbies included reading, writing to friends, crocheting, but she especially enjoyed baking cookies for her grandchildren and neighbors. Delores truly loved her Twins and Vikings. When she was watching them “Don’t Disturb her.” She loved her vacations with her children and later grandchildren to the House on The Rock, Mackinac and Madelyn Islands and the Great Water slides in Wisconsin, and fishing trips for Salmon on Lake Michigan. Delores is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Linda Corrinne Kranz; Great-grandson Travis Jabs; five sisters and six brothers. She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Edwin; daughter Sandra Kay Keocher; brother Kelly Hiatt; son-in-law Dwight Kranz; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
