Obituary of Lucille H. Kutzke

Lucille Helen Kutzke, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Stoney River Senior Living in Ramsey, MN.

Lucille was born on June 6, 1926 in Holdingford, MN to Leo and Ella Young.  She grew up on a farm, helping her father drive tractor.  She graduated from Holdingford High School and began her teaching career after attending St. Cloud Teachers College for one year.  While teaching in Waconia, she met Lando Kutzke, whom she married on July 4, 1951 in her hometown of Holdingford.  They moved to Cambridge in 1952 and soon after she began teaching at Moody School.  Lucille continued her college education at St. Cloud State, achieving her Masters in Education in 1978.  In 1966, she began teaching fourth grade at Cambridge Elementary, retiring in 1990 after 37 years. In 1975, they moved to their home just outside of Cambridge where they planted and grew beautiful gardens, including many varieties of hostas.  In 2006, they moved to the Real Life retirement community in St. Cloud, meeting many new friends.  Lucille and Lando were married for over 66 years and had four children, Barbara, Connie, Daniel and Michael.

Lucille enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was an avid quilter.  She served as a judge at numerous fairs including the Anoka County Fair and the Minnesota State Fair.  She was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Cambridge.  She loved to travel and spent many fun times camping and visiting National Parks.  She and Lando went south for 12 winters with their motor home, visiting Texas and Arizona.  They were members of the Good Sam Club, Rum River Ramblers and Holiday Travellers camping groups.  She was also an enthusiastic Twins fan and loved music.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Barbara, and sister Edna Brick.  She is survived by her husband Lando of Ramsey, step daughter Carol (Larry) Gregersen of Cortez, CO, children Connie (Steve) Dilts of Billings, MT, Daniel (Kim) of Rochester, MN and Michael (Jennifer) of Andover, MN, 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
