Obituary of Daniel Crocker
Daniel Arthur Crocker, 65, of Cambridge experienced his final graduation " to Heaven and the presence of his Lord, on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the Grandview Christian Home, with family at his side.
Dan was born December 15, 1941 to Harwood and Dorothy (Hall) Crocker, and lived in NE Minneapolis through his college years. After graduating from Edison High School, he attended the University of Minnesota from 1959 to 1962, and graduated from Mankato State College with a degree in education. He married JoAnne Danielson on March 20, 1964, and they made their home in Cambridge, where he taught Junior High math for 36 years.
Dan loved sports, and won track and swimming honors in high school and college. Water activities were his favorite, and he was an All-American swimmer for the U of M, swam competitively until 1993, coached track and swimming for a time during his teaching career, and officiated at swim meets for 30 years. In 2006 he was inducted into the Edison High School Hall of Fame. The last sporting event he enjoyed was attending a swim meet to watch his oldest granddaughter compete in the new pool at Cambridge High School.
Dan was known for loving Jesus and he loved serving people. In church, he was involved with teens as a High School Youth Leader and served many years in Christian Service Brigade. He loved music and sang in the choir until last year.
In the last few years, even before he knew of his illness, Dan had a special interest in Heaven and a great concern for others to know Jesus as he did. Now he is in Heaven, seeing his beloved Lord face to face.
Dan will be greatly missed by his mother, Dorothy Hall Crocker Larson of Royalton, his wife JoAnne, son Grant and wife Carrie Crocker, daughter Greta and husband Stacey Nelson all of Cambridge, his grandchildren Adelle, Bryant, Anna and David Nelson, and Cole, Sydney and Brook Crocker, all of Cambridge. In addition, he leaves his sisters Phyllis (George) Brooks of Royalton, Deanna (David) Olson of Little Falls, brother-in-law Paul (Lolly) Danielson of Blaine, and many other relatives, friends and former students.
