Obituary of Betty Zipperer

Betty Lou Zipperer, 80, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East. She was born November 28, 1931 in Ashland, Wisconsin to Chris and Florence (Williamson) Wooland. Betty grew up in Ashland, attending grade school and graduating from Ashland High School in 1950. After high school she worked in Chicago for a short time. On September 8, 1951 she was united in marriage to Gordon Zipperer in Crown Point, Indiana. They first lived in Houghton Michigan where Gordon attended university, moved to Buffalo, New York, and later to Oklahoma for two years where Gordon was stationed while in the Army. After his discharge, they moved to Minneapolis and later Burnsville. Betty worked as a secretary for Burnsville Schools and St. James Lutheran Church in Savage. Betty later enrolled in cosmetology school and went on to work as a cosmetologist. In 1972 they moved to Cambridge where Betty along with Gordon owned and operated Zipperer Beverage and later on, the Mini-Storage south of Isanti. They sold their businesses and retired in 2000, remaining in Cambridge. The past five years Betty and Gordon have enjoyed life at East Terrace Cooperative. Betty enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and traveling with Gordon. They made trips to China, South America, Italy, Mexico, as well as others. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jack and Jim Wooland. Betty is survived by her husband Gordon of Cambridge, daughter Lynn Zipperer of St. Paul, son Mark Zipperer and spouse Heather Butler of Madison, WI, sisters-in-law Shirley Wooland and Betty Berthume both of Ashland, WI, as well as other relatives and friends.
