Obituary of George Erickson

George Olaf Erickson, 81 of Cambridge, MN passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge. George was born November 8, 1926 to Elmer V. and Esther O. (Forslund) Erickson in Dalbo, MN. He was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo and attended country school in Dalbo through first grade. His family owned the State Bank of Dalbo. In 1933 the family moved the bank from Dalbo to Cambridge and renamed it Cambridge State Bank. George became a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church and was later confirmed. He attended school in Cambridge starting in second grade and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1944. After high school he joined the Army Air Force and was honorably discharged in March 1945. George later attended Gustavus Adolphus College and he also attended evening classes at the U of M while working at Cambridge State Bank. In 1964 George became President of the bank, succeeding his father. Roselyn Stone started working at the bank in 1948 and met George. They were married at South Isanti Baptist Church on November 29, 1952. George served as a city council member, and was mayor of Cambridge in the 1970's. He was an active member of Cambridge Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, and working in the yard. George especially loved meeting and greeting everyone who came into the bank. George and Roselyn also enjoyed spending time at Longboat Key, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Warren, sister Lorraine Setterlund, and grandson Tobias Olaf Lee. George is survived by his wife Roselyn of Cambridge, daughters Kim and husband Bud Mullen of Minnetonka, Kathy and husband Greg Kirkpatrick of Maple Plain, Kristin and husband Randy Lee of Mound, six grandchildren Eva Cornell, Lane and Kyla Kirkpatrick, Erik, Anna and Torsten Lee, as well as many other relatives and friends.
