Obituary of Gary Christofferson

Gary R. Christofferson, 62, of Cambridge, MN died in a car accident on Monday, August 26, 2013 in Andover. Gary was born on June 26, 1951 in Cleveland, Texas. Gary was raised in Warren, MN and graduated from Warren High School in 1969, where he was active in sports and athletics. Gary continued his education at Bemidji State College where he played football, and soon met Pat Tibbetts Dowell. On June 10, 1972, Gary and Pat were married in Grand Rapids, MN. Gary graduated from Bemidji State College in 1973, and shortly thereafter moved to Cambridge with Pat and began a career as a health educator at Cambridge Middle School. During that time, Gary also worked as an EMT at Cambridge Hospital, was a Ski Patroller for Wild Mountain, and coached Football and Baseball at Cambridge-Isanti High School. In 1999, Gary made a career change and began work with Education Minnesota as Field Staff, first in Willmar, then in Coon Rapids for the St. Francis and Anoka-Hennepin School Districts. Together Gary and Pat raised two children, Josh and Emily. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family and three grandchildren. He also enjoyed sports and riding his Harley Davidson with Pat. Gary had a passion for helping others achieve success and he had an astounding impact on people's lives with the love and laughter that he shared. One of his favorite quotes was, "Life is Good." Gary was preceded in death by his step-father Robert Brosdahl, sister Sharon, and special Uncle Marvin Christofferson. Gary is survived by his wife Pat Christofferson of Cambridge; mother Levina Brosdahl of Warren, MN; son Josh Christofferson and wife Jenny of Hawley, MN; daughter Emily Wood and husband Josh of Anchorage, AK; three granddaughters Kelby, Jordan, and Coty Christofferson of Hawley, MN; two sisters Sheila and Kristy.
