Obituary of Roy Olson

Roy William Olson, 78, of Isanti passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. He was born on April 1, 1935 in East Chicago, Indiana to Victor and Lucille (Ball) Olson. The family moved to the Springvale area where Roy attended country school at West Riverside. He also grew up attending Springvale Baptist Church. In January 1953 Roy entered U.S. Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in December 1956. He served in the Marine Corps reserves until January 1961. On September 24, 1960 he was united in marriage to Corinne Egelkraut in North Branch. They lived in Bloomington, Fridley ad in 1987 moved to a hobby farm in Cambridge. Roy drove truck for many years with BFI until he retired at age 65. After he and Corinne retired, they sold their farm and bought an RV, spending winters in Texas and summers at Country Camping in Isanti. Also in his retirement years, Roy hauled fertilizer for Peterson's Mill in North Branch and was doing so until earlier this year. In December 2010 he and Corinne moved to Isanti. She passed away in April 2011. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and traveling in their RV. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Corinne, granddaughter Ashley, brother Robert, and nephew David Olson. Roy is survived by his daughter Heather and husband Shane Lewis of Alexandria, sons Brent Olson of Brook Park, Timothy Olson of Braham, five grandchildren Taylor, Travis, Kaylee, Caidyn and Dylan, sister Kathy and husband Iver Kronbeck of Little Falls, as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
