Obituary of Phyllis Larson
Phyllis Mae Larson was born on May 26, 1924 in Cambridge, Minnesota to Clarence and Edna (Anderson) Sjodin. She grew up in a loving, faith-centered home and enjoyed telling stories of her childhood.
She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1942, worked at the Cambridge Woolen Mills and then as a waitress at the Nugget Café where she met Percy (Pat) Larson.
Pat and "Phyl" were married on April 29, 1950 at First Baptist Church in Cambridge. Following their honeymoon to California, they made their home in Stanchfield on a dairy farm. They had four children: Mark, Char, Steve and Mary. They sold the farm in 1977 and then moved to Cambridge. She then worked and retired from the Cambridge State Hospital.
A social, adventurous and ambitious lady, Phyllis had a great love for people and would often host family gatherings and help coordinate family reunions. Special interests in her life included music (playing the piano, organ and mandolin), and studying the family's Swedish heritage. She also enjoyed any kind of traveling, crocheting, shopping and sharing coffee with friends and family.
Her faith in Christ was evident in her caring spirit. She loved reading her Bible and devotional books and was a member of Stanchfield Baptist Church.
A life well lived, Phyllis peacefully passed away on Monday, March 24th, 2014 surrounded by family. She is survived by her children Mark (Michele) Larson of Braham, Charleen (William) Mars of Des Moines, IA, Steven (Candace) Larson of Isanti, Mary (Jeff) Lodin of Braham and sisters Ruth Nelson of Roseville and Clarice Salstrom of Tulsa, OK; brother Dennis (Joanne) Sjodin of Cambridge as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
