I met Elisabeth at the Full Moon while she was playing bingo and Jill Haugrud and I were working it. She always had a smile, and a wonderful laugh! And Jill and I were the recipients of knitted stocking hats (MN Vikings) and slippers (which I still wear) and she even made a couple pairs for my grandkids. While it's been a while since she's been there, she's one of those people that you miss as she was always happy and had stories to tell, too. My prayers are with you.
TC, I am sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I have lost my mother and dad, and know that even when you can see that day coming, there is no way to avoid a great sense of loss. I hope your mother enjoyed a life well lived, and I hope you find strength and comfort in friends and family during this tough time. Sorry I can't be with you on Thursday.
So sorry to hear about Elisabeth's passing. Zebet was a great part of my growing up. Many days were spent with my sister at her house not only babysitting us while mom and dad were at work, but we'd come back in the evenings and weekends to visit with her and Leo as well. What a great couple of people.
Zebet kept us in order with her german accent that I will never forget. I have since picked up parts of it and use it on my own kids today! Some of my greatest memories were the many days she would sit and watch us swim off her dock- for hours, and the treats she would always bring us home from her trips to Germany. I was probably the only kid in kindergarden that could count to 10 in German, AND crochet my own stalking cap and socks. The open face sandwiches that she was famous for, ooh the german potato salad, Leo playing the trumpet and his accordian in the basement and then later in his shed where I drank my first...thats probably good for now although I could go on for what feels like forever with all the great things we all did together. Elisabeth was always a third grandma to me, I was one lucky kid.
Many many many great memories with Elisabeth and Leo both. I will cherish the memories I have with them forever.
