I haven't seen Nate or Rick in many years, but they lived across the street from me in Richfield and Nate was my first childhood friend for many years. Rick was always so nice and very generous! My fondest memory of him was when he showed me his skydiving video with Tom Petty's Free Falling song playing to it. I'll never forget thinking how much courage that must have taken but also how free he must have felt. My condolences to your family. Rick won't be forgotten.

Nathan, I am sorry to hear about your dad. I'm sorry that I was unable to attend the service, since I just heard the sad news while searching for you guys on facebook. I hope you remember who I am. I wish we had stayed in touch. I've missed you. We're still in the old neighborhood and I have lots of pictures of yourself, my kids, and grandkids to show you, if you would like to stop in to visit. I am very sad to hear of Rick's passing. He was in my Training class for Akal Security almost 5 yrs ago. All I can say is he was a fine and gentle person, and I was privileged to know him. May he find eternal warmth in God's loving embrace. My heart and prayers go out to all who loved him.

Rick spent his life being a good friend and caring about others. I know my very first crush on my brother's friends had to be Rick, I was only 7-8 years younger. I always had a special place in my heart for Rick & always will. May he be at peace now.

Rick was my first love. It was a love that was unconditional and this will never be found again. Unfortunately, you don't get to choose your future when you are young. So, my parents decided (because of my age) that I needed to meet others before marrying Rick. To this day I regret their decision. Rick was everything to me, and every time we were together he smiled with joy. Rick took me away from the dysfunctional family I was growing up in, and his family finished raising me. Rick's parents were wonderful in teaching me another life. Rick wanted nothing more than for me to be happy and safe. We loved each other in ways I will never have that love again. I still remember the first time we saw each other was at a dance. We both gazed at each other from across the room and it was love at first site. I never wanted to be away from him. There was not a time I didn't laugh with him. One time Rick drove his Vega and as he was teaching me to race I learned well. Another time (in his Vega) we went to black dog where you could sit and watch the river go by. Rick stared into my eyes and told me he loved me and I was shocked but at the same time his Vega was headed for the river. We had to push so hard to get the car out of the river. We went rock climbing out in Arizona and this was an adventure in itself. We didn't have the right gear/shoes to climb rocks. It was getting late and we had to take a short cut back to the car, and in order to do that we had to cross over falls. There was a tree that feel over on top of the water falls. The tree was stuck on both sides with large boulders. So, you could sit on the tree and somehow slide over to the other side. I froze in the middle of the tree and I couldn't move. Rick came back on the tree and said "Diane don't take your eyes off of mine and do what I do", and inch by inch he made me move (on my own) to the other side. To this day if it wasn't for Rick and his family I would have not known a different way of life. If my family stayed out of my decision I would be together today with Rick. I have and always will cherish the love the both of us had. I will look at Rick in the heavens and pray to him that I miss him, and thank Rick and his family for giving me (as a young girl) a different look at life. There was no love like our love shared by two. I could write a book of our experiences together. May God be with Rick now and forever AMEN! For God loves us unconditionally.
