Dear Ed, John, Anna, Gene, Joan, and family, I was so very sorry to hear about Danine. Our family sends our love and prayers to your family. I was a very good friend with Danine in school. Through Junior High School, Cindy Knodel, Danine and myself were always together. We also would stay at Cindy's house. We had so much fun together in school. Danine was always sweet and very smart! Her and I would talk about the Bible and she was always very respectful and kind to others. She also was loyal and stuck up for what was right and the underdog. I am so sorry to miss her memorial as I just found out this evening searching the Isanti news online. I am so sad right now. I wish after our school days we would of all kept in touch. I also moved to Minneapolis and then you loose tract of each other. Looking at the pictures, she looked very happy with her life and children. I alway knew she would make a good mother. You were all blessed. Always remember the hope in the Bible that I would tell Danine in school, that God promises that he will remember those asleep in death and bring about a better world free from sickness and death. His promise is and I would tell her the scripture at Revelations 21:4 " And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor out cry nor pain be anymore, the former things have past away." We all long for that day when God will step in and make things new for the earth and promises a resurrection of those we lost to sickness and death. It was wonderful to have Danine as a friend and I was so glad that I knew her. May your family have comfort through all your friends and family and the wonderful hope the Bible tells us. My Sister – Danine (Sissy as she was known to me) was a wonderful big sister to have. Being 3 years her junior, I loved to hang around her and her girlfriends. I was the pesky little brother that had a crush on all of her cool and cute girlfriends. Even though I was a pest, I rarely remember Danine getting mad at me. She was always protective of me when I was really little. She would often protect me from the dangers of having a big brother (Mark). One memory I often think of is the first time we smoked together. (Yes Danine smoked) Little Anna has heard this story before but I am sure there are many who have not. We were up at our cabin on Namakan Lake in the mid 60’s. I was around 4 or 5 which would put Danine at 7 or 8. We were playing house on the big rock in front of the cabin when we decided that since we were pretending to be grownups, we should smoke. We went into the cabin and got some matches and magazine pages. I am not sure where the parental supervision was at the time. We then rolled up pine needles in the magazine paper to make two gigantic cigarettes. Of course we lit them and inhaled the hot smoke which instantly made us cough. We instantly extinguished the cigarettes as well as any further ideas of making our own smokes again. Sissy, I will miss you so much! Love, Scott

Looking Back Danine was a wonderful friend, From the beginning to the end, We met in high school long ago, What the future held - we did not know. We had fun in those early years, Neither of us had many fears, We laughed and talked and cried some too, We were not sure what we would do. We saw Elton John together, Went to Tennessee in summer weather, After college, Danine met Ed, It was not long before they wed. John and Anna came along, It seemed nothing could go wrong, But there are plans we know not of, Put into place by God above. Danine was kind and strong and true, Honest, loyal and down-to-earth too, She was pretty and witty and smart, And she loved her family with all her heart. Danine was a good person, A friend I will never forget, She has become an angel now, But I'm so glad we met. Sue Hanson
