Lorayne J. Serum
Lorayne Joyce (Brink) Serum, 79, of Cambridge, MN and Green Valley, AZ
passed away from Alzheimer's disease at home on Tuesday, January, 5 2010 surrounded by family.
She was born in June 18, 1930 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Henry and Jean (Vanseth) Brink. Lorayne grew up in Eldred, Minnesota and graduated from Climax, MN High School in 1948. She also attended and graduated from Moorhead State University in 1950 and went on to teach school in Halstad, Wheaton, and Minnetonka.
On June 14, 1952 she was united in marriage to Ronald Serum in Eldred, MN. Lorayne stopped teaching to raise their four children. After the children were grown she earned her nursing assistant degree and worked at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park until retiring in 1986. She and Ron spent their retirement years wintering in Arizona and summers on Lake Fannie. In 2003 they moved in with their daughter Karen and her family near Lake Fannie and continued to winter in Arizona.
Lorayne enjoyed quilting, spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years Ron of Cambridge, children, Deb Serum of Woodbury, Connie and husband Jay Wetmore of Bloomington, Karen and husband Steve Hammero of Cambridge, Tom Serum and wife Gro Berntsen of Tromso, Norway, eight grandchildren, Ben Serum, Ashley Hammero, Derek Wetmore, Carter Wetmore, Kate Hammero, Brooke Wetmore, Anna Wetmore, Adam Wetmore, brother Jim Brink, and his family, Lois, Demian and Tait of Oakdale, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Lorayne was preceded in death by parents Henry and Jean Brink, brother Ron Brink, son-in-law John Hennum.
