Obituary of Arleta Olson
Arleta Mary Olson of Cambridge, MN was called to heaven on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010 at the Cambridge Medical Center at the age of 91 years and 6 months.
Arleta was born on November 27th, 1918, to Perry and Gertrude (Smith) Tiggeman in Waverly, Iowa. In 1920, Arleta's family relocated to Waynesville, Iowa and several years later the family moved to Barry, MN.
Arleta attended Graceville High School and graduated in 1936. She was confirmed at Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church in Graceville, MN, on July 4th, 1937. On December 29th, 1937, Arleta was united in marriage to Marvin A. Olson. The Rev. Raymond Matlock officiated their ceremony. They made their home in Graceville, MN and farmed near Dumont, MN. Arleta and Marvin lovingly raised their four daughters; Marlys, Phillys, June and Sherry. After the death of her husband, Marvin, in 1966, Arleta relocated to Minneapolis, MN where she made her home to be near her children. Arleta attended classes for tax preparation in 1968. She worked for H&R Block as a tax consultant until her retirement in 1988. In retirement, Arleta enjoyed spending time with her family. Arleta treasured time at G J's Hide-A-Way on Diamond Lake in Aitkin, MN, spending winters in Florida and traveling to different locations visiting family and friends.
In 2006, Arleta moved to Cambridge, MN where she lived out the rest of her life. Arleta was a current member of Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, Cambridge, MN. She had also been a long time member of Brooklyn Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Center, MN and Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Graceville, MN where she faithfully served as a member of the ladies aide. She was a proud member of the Isanti County Humane Society because of her lifelong love for animals.
Arleta is survived by her daughters Marlys (Hazen) Palmer of Cambridge, MN, Phillys (Paul) Klapprodt of Arlington, SD, June Ward of Brooklyn Center and Sherry (Keith) Duin of Palm City, FL, five grandchildren; Kimberly and Rebecca Palmer, Sheila (Brian) Reynolds, John and Jeffrey (Shauna) Ward, seven great grandchildren; Dana Reynolds, Sara (Brian) Johnson, Joshua John Parlow, Alicia Ward, Shelby Arleta Ward, Megan Ward and Jessica Ward, sister Helen Ulstad, sisters-in-law Fern and Jean Tiggeman, Verna Olson and Evelyn Lende, many nieces and nephews. Arleta is also survived by her beloved lifelong friend Florene Warner-Zimmerman.
Arleta was preceded in death by her father Perry Tiggeman, her husband Marvin Olson, her nephew Terry Tiggeman, her mother Gertrude Fuhrman, brothers Howard and Ralph Tiggeman and son-in-law Glen Ward.
