While I haven't seen Jerry in years, I have some fond childhood memories with Jerry and my dad hunting and fishing, his sense of humor was something i'll never forget. I can remember stepping into ice fishing holes as a kid and he'd find it hilarious or the time I spilled the beans off the stove in dear hunting camp, Jerry busted out laughing while Ronnie was cursing me out. He was a close family friend and will always be remembered.
I'm 63 years old now. I believe Gerry and I hunted every duck opener together since I was 16 or 17 years old. Been a long road. When we were younger we never missed a single weekend. Every afternoon when school let out we had a new adventure at the swamp on the old highway north of the bait shop or out at Joe's Lake . Gerry had the uncanny ability to remember just about every place we hunted and in many instances the details of what happened at a particular time thirty or forty years ago. We both enjoyed retelling the same stories time after time. I'll look at the phone next fall, the week before opener, and have to realize that I won't hear him say "Are you coming out?" He will be missed but not forgotten. Gerry will be remembered as my friend who could be wading thru freezing water in flooded hip boots during a sleet storm and laughing at the same time.
