Obituary of Gerald Gutzkow

Gerald E. Gutzkow, 62, of Cambridge passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at his home. Gerald Ernest Gutzkow was born on March 11, 1948 in Braham, Minnesota to Ernest and Margaret (Klemz) Gutzkow. Gerry graduated from Cambridge High School in 1967 and went on to attend St. Cloud Vo-Tech to learn the trade of printing. He married Kathy Wallin. They had a son Tim in 1968 and a daughter Jody in 1970. The family resided in Isanti at that time and would move to the country between Cambridge and Princeton in 1974. They built their home on seven acres by the lake. Gerry loved this home and resided there for the remainder of his life, even after divorcing Kathy in 1998. Gerry started his printing career close to home at the Cambridge Star. He worked for Midwest Printing (Webb Publishing and Maxwell Graphics) from 1968 until 1989. For the next four years he was Head Pressman and Foreman at Quebecor Printing in Fridley. When the Quebecor facility closed in 1992, Gerry continued in printing for Fingerhut in Mora. Fingerhut is finally where Gerry officially retired in 2001, after 34 years in the printing industry. Gerry's favorite things revolved around his love of family, friends, and nature. Fishing and hunting were a couple of his favorite hobbies. He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret and his sister Kathy Pangerl. Gerry is survived by his son Tim Gutzkow and wife Linda of East Bethel, daughter Jody Gutzkow of Cambridge, five grandchildren Benjamin age 13, Brittany age 13, Gabrielle age 13, Mitchell age 9 and Kayla age 11, father Ernie Gutzkow of Cambridge, sister Jean Gutzkow of St. Louis Park, as well as other relatives and friends.
