Obituary of Cindy Edstrom

Cindy LaRae Edstrom, 52, of Harris died on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at her home. She was born October 10, 1958 at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Roger and Vonnie (Byker) Elmstrand. She grew up in Cambridge and also spent a short time in San Jose, California. Cindy graduated from Cambridge High School in 1977. After graduating she worked for two years at Control Data in Cambridge. On July 19, 1980 she was united in marriage to Michael Edstrom at Spring Lake Lutheran Church near North Branch. Cindy stayed at home and raised their three sons. They lived in Cambridge for three years and also east of Cambridge for 13 years and in 1995 the family moved to Harris. Cindy attended Anoka Ramsey Community College and earned her degree as a registered nurse. In 1991 she began working at the Cambridge State Hospital and worked as a nurse there over 19 years and had just retired. She was a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church and especially enjoyed attending the Horizon Worship Service on Sundays. Cindy enjoyed knitting, feeding and watching the wild birds, flower gardening, going on walks and raking the lawn. Cindy was a wonderful caring person and was very good at her job as a nurse. She will be dearly missed by her many family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Roger Elmstrand, grandparents Henrik and Viola Elmstrand, Garit and Doris Byker. Cindy is survived by her husband Mike of Harris, sons Ryan and wife Jennie Edstrom of St. Louis Park, Garret Edstrom of Maple Grove, Justin Edstrom of Minneapolis, mother Vonnie and husband Dwight Oman of Cambridge, brothers Randy Elmstrand of Cambridge, Brad and wife Joni Elmstrand of Cambridge, sister Laurie Elmstrand of Harris, nephew Barry Elmstrand as well as several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
