Obituary of Richard Horan

Richard Merle Horan, 68, formerly of Verndale and Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Linnea Residence in Chisago City. He was born on July 11, 1942 in Freeborn County, Minnesota to Merle and Ruby (Thofson) Horan. In 1947 the family moved to Cambridge and Richard attended the Pine Lake Country School through sixth grade. He was confirmed at Cambridge Lutheran Church and also attended Cambridge High School. In 1973 he moved with his parents to Bertha and he helped his parents on the farm and in the garden. When Merle and Ruby retired from farming, Richard moved with them to Verndale and in 2006 he moved to the Linnea Residence in Chisago City. Richard enjoyed watching classic Western movies, gardening, and helping out his dad at the England Prairie Pioneer Club Threshing Show in Verndale. He was preceded in death by his sisters Shirley Horan, Darlene Horan Baldwin, and mother Ruby. Richard is survived by his father Merle Horan of Verndale, siblings Helen and husband Jerry Dahms of Bertha, Betty and husband Sheldon Krantz of Cambridge, Audrey and husband Dennis Anderson of Vining, William and wife Beverly Horan of North Branch, Sharon and husband Paul Neunsinger of Ramsey, Marjorie Zortman of Mora, Gary and wife Mila Horan of Mora, Michael and wife Marsha Horan of Wadena, Merlin Horan of Moorhead, aunt Jean Anderson of Hayfield, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
