Obituary of Christopher Blomquist

Christopher Alan Blomquist of Stanchfield died at his home peacefully on June 20, 2011. He was diagnosed with ALS or "Lou Gehrig's Disease" in October of 2007. He was born on December 17, 1970 in Cambridge, Minnesota to Nancy and the late Dallas Blomquist. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1989. He enlisted in the Navy in 1989 and served in the Gulf War. During his 4 years in the Navy, he saw much of the world. Upon his return home, he served in the Gulf War. He had a variety of exciting jobs throughout his life. He worked for Federal Cartridge for 12 years. Chris furthered his career at Pellco Machine where he supervised a milling department that he adored. Chris always worked hard and loved life! He met and was united in marriage to his wife Shannon Bertek on April 17, 2004 at Calvary Lutheran Church at Rush Point. They felt very blessed to be such a big part of a family, group, and congregation. He was always hard at work, but upon diagnosis he felt the need to work around the house with the kids by his side and had been a true inspiration during his battle. Chris is a 40 year old husband, father and grandfather. Chris was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, camp, fish and ride four-wheeler. Kip also loved spending time with his family and friends anyone who would come in contact would just know how much love he had to give. He is survived by his wife, Shannon Blomquist of Stanchfield, sons, Mitchell Blomquist and Jordan Blomquist, daughters, Breana Blomquist and Madison Blomquist, granddaughter Caiah Blomquist, parents Nancy and James Graham of Cambridge, grandparents Dallas and Darlene Blomquist of Piedmont, South Dakota, sister Traci (Brandon) Bistodeau of Cambridge, parents-in-law Wayne and Susan Emmel of Isanti and Galin and Patricia of Blackduck, sisters-in-law Tiffany and Cassondra Emmel of Isanti, aunts and uncles Barry Blomquist of Cambridge, Phil (Cheryl) Smith of North Branch, Richard (Kathy) Smith of Cambridge, step brothers Jimmy Graham of Ogilvie, Kelly (Lesley) Graham of Ogilvie and many other relatives and friends.
