Obituary of Ione Caroline Anderson

Ione Caroline Anderson, 92, died March 4, 2015 at Shady Oaks Assisted Living in Isanti, MN. She was born February 22, 1923 in Cambridge Township, Isanti Co, MN to Marvin and Karin “Carrie” (Leaf) Johnson. She attended rural Moody School and graduated from Cambridge High school in 1941. She graduated from the MN Teachers Training program in Mora, MN and taught in several Isanti county rural schools for the next six years. Ione married John P. Anderson on June 15, 1943, and they raised their four children on the Anderson family farm northeast of Cambridge. Ione was baptized and confirmed at Cambridge Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school there for many years. She was active in the Befrienders Group and the church quilting group until her declining health prevented it. Ione was a charter member of her neighborhood homemakers club, the Border Belles, and remained active with the group for 50 years. Ione was a devoted wife and mother, widowed by John’s death March 21, 1985. She remained on the Anderson farm until a move to assisted living in 2007. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Doris and husband Ralph Bloomgren, sister Marvelle Puterbaugh, and brothers Lyle Johnson and Richard Johnson. Ione will be missed by daughter Karen (Glenn) Lood of Cambridge; sons Philip of Roseville, Robert (Lee Ann) of Stanchfield, Dale (Nancy) Anderson of Cambridge; eleven grandchildren Christina Lood, Erik (Margaret) Lood, Alison (Andy) Romstad, Erin (Andy) Olson, Matthew (Dana) Anderson, Erica (Andy) Kalis, Rachel (Justin) Axness, Kaarin (Greg) Mantz, Reid (Lyndsay) Anderson, John Anderson, Kirsten Anderson (and her fiancé Kelby Jennissen); eighteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Jack Puterbaugh; sisters-in-law Ramona Johnson, Alma Anderson and Barbara Anderson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
