Obituary of Marvin T. Paulson
Marvin Thomas Paulson, 100, of Cambridge formerly of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at The Commons at GracePointe Crossing.
He was born on January 8, 1915 in Hatton, ND to Nels and Helga (Bakken) Paulson. He would go on to earn a Bachelors’ Degree and later was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey serving from 1937 – 1969, retiring as captain.
Marvin was united in marriage to Muriel Hermine and because of his service they lived at 41 different places over the years. Marvin was in charge of the Weather Bureau in the Western U.S and was also on the last survey crew that surveyed the last part of Alaska. In 1963 he was involved with laying the hot line between Russia and the U.S.
In their retirement Marvin and Muriel moved to Las Vegas and were very active with St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in Boulder City for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Muriel, brothers Peter, Elliott and Bruce, and sister Olive Taylor. Marvin is survived by nieces and nephews, Craig and Patti Paulson, Barb and Keith Hoffman, Brenda and Sam Brubaker, Debbie and Ron Bury, Jack and Marge Taylor, Jill and Chuck, Warner, Judy and Chuck Dunsire, Keith and Jennifer Paulson, Kent and Wendy Paulson, Peter and Pati Paulson, Mark and Carey Taylor, Marcia Urbani, Steve and Sally Paulson, Carmen and Mike Klomp, as well as several other relatives and friends.
