When I came to work for the Sheriff's Office in 1999, I remember Mike being helpful and supportive and always willing to help on a call whenever I needed it and that continued until his retirement. One memory that really stands out that I worked with Mike on was following up on a burglary incident that lead us to a property in Wyanett Twsp. Needless to say this property was full of adventure with all sorts of animals. I remember Mike and I had our squads taken over by goats, sheep and turkeys that thought the hood was a good place for a rest. Mikes laughter was contagious and encouraged everyone he worked with to go the extra mile. Thoughts and prayers to the Ammend family

June, my heart aches for you and your family as you mourn Mike's passing. I have very fond memories working with Mike while I was employed in the Isanti County Attorney's office. Mike was always pleasant, cooperative, and his laugh was so contagious. Seems like only a few years ago that he would call me "Rosebud" - he was such a kind, compassionate and professional person. I am very sorry to miss his celebration of life, but know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I'm hoping you can feel my love and hugs. God bless you.

Mike was a good friend of mine. It was an honor to know him, work beside him, and then work for him when he was elected Sheriff. Over the years, our "family" has seen good times and bad times. We sure enjoyed our trips to Las Vegas over the years. Who will ever forget Mike waking us all up at 5am to go hunt rattlesnakes in the desert! Mike will be truly missed. He was loved by all. His contagious laugh will be remembered always. I'm blessed to have been his friend for twenty years, and I will never forget this truly awesome man.

Our thought and prayers are with you at this hard time. I enjoyed having Mike as a coworker and a GREAT BOSS. He was a man you could talk to anytime as a friend or as your boss.
This was such a shock to his law enforcement family.
